Director Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s latest film, Evil Does Not Exist, is set to be released in theaters in Japan on April 26th.

The film won the Silver Lion (Grand Jury Prize) at the Venice International Film Festival this year. JVTA created both the English subtitles for the submission of the film to the festival along with Italian subtitles for the screening.

JVTA has a track record of subtitling several of Hamaguchi’s previous films into English. Translators who have trained at JVTA have created English subtitles for The Sound of the Waves (2011), Intimacies (2012), Touching the Skin of Eeriness (2013), Happy Hour (2015), and Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy (2021), among others.
