With technological advancements in machine translation in recent years, the changes in how we work and the use of generative AI in the interpretation and translation industry is gaining attention.
The special feature of Tsuyaku Honyaku Journal 2023 Autumn published on August 21st is “AI and Interpretation/Translation.” It looks at the changes and future prospects of the interpretation and translation industry as a result of advances in AI, from varying perspectives. Within the special feature, JVTA’s Osamu Tomioka (Head of Business Development), who is one of the pioneers of machine translation research and AI subtitle translation tool development in the audiovisual translation industry, wrote an article about the current uses and future prospects of machine translation.
