The Refugee Film Festival, held by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), aims to raise awareness for the persecution and fears faced by people who are forced to flee their homeland. Since 2006, they have screened numerous films that focus on the issue of refugees. JVTA has long supported the objective of the festival and has helped create Japanese subtitles for its films since the 3rd festival in 2008. Since then, around 440 visual media translators have assisted in creating subtitles for the festival.
